M+A - Live At Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition

Over the last few years the Glastonbury Emerging Talent  Competition has gained a reputation for picking a winner that is rather traditional / organic sounding, but this year the notion that the competition judges didn’t like electronic music was blown out of the water. First by the fact that of the final 8 artists 4 of them featured keyboards heavily in their live set-up and secondly as M+A (a band without an acoustic guitar in sight) stole the show and grabbed the prize of a main stage slot plus £5,000 from the PRS for Music Foundation. Having attended the last three live finals it is our view that quite simply the judges choose the best live act on the night, irrespective of genre, with the previous winners all undoubtedly nailing their sets and being firm favourites amongst the majority of those present in the room.

Yesterday the festival uploaded this video of one of the songs M+A performed at the live final, which gives a great sense of their experimental, maraca shaking, warped vocal,  hit it and groove excellence. Look out for the bald head of Michael Eavis right at the end and if you’re very observant a certain familiar blogger (you’ll have to look hard though – clue look for a cap).
